We didn’t forget about the front section either, a nice path that leads all the way around the front of the deck, with a lovely Japanese Maple as the centrepiece.

Here’s one last shot after we’ve finished cleaning up the remaining garden space.

The homeowner has planted some Dichondra Repens (a leafy ground covering), which spread in the remaining garden area around the tree. Should look great!

This was a very satisfying transformation, we completely renewed this backyard and converted it into a very functional and useable space, clearing ten years of accumulated mulch and items, restoring the area to a clean, level base ready for paving. The surface was prepared to ensure long-term stability and proper drainage before laying the new stone. This job consisted of two components:

Paving

• Installed Natural Travertine paving in a stretcher bond pattern for a timeless, uniform look.

• Precision-cut and laid to achieve even joints and a consistent finish.

• Compacted and finished with jointing sand to lock tiles in place and prevent movement.

Garden bed construction

• Constructed a new garden bed adjacent to the paved area, specifically designed for vegetable planting.

• Soil replaced and enriched to provide a fertile growing medium.

• Bed positioned for good sun exposure and easy access from the existing deck and paved area.

The upgrade transforms the space from overgrown debris to a neat, durable outdoor area that combines elegant travertine paving with a practical vegetable garden — ideal for both entertaining and productive gardening.
